5th Annual Scholarship Essay Competition winners announced

The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) is pleased to announce the winners of the 5th Annual NHEF Scholarship Essay Competition.

Since its launch in 2015, the Competition has served as a platform that encourages Nigerian university students to think critically and strategically on topical issues that are of vital importance to Nigeria’s sustainable growth and development.

This edition of the competition focused on Human Capital Development, an issue that is increasingly becoming at the forefront of long-term global growth. Students were challenged to provide a solution(s) to addressing the challenges of human capital development in Nigeria, using case studies or examples.

We received a record number of entries from the student community at NHEF Partner Universities and selected four finalists following rigorous academic evaluation by our expert panel of judges.

Khadijah Yakubu, a 300 level, social work student from the University of Lagos emerged as the Grand Prize winner and the first female first prize winner.

The NHEF also wishes to congratulate the following students:

First Runner-up: Morenike Oyeleke – University of Lagos

Second Runner-up 1: John Igbozurike – University of Lagos

Second Runner-up 2: John Joshua – University of Ibadan

Winners will be invited to an official awards ceremony at a later date.

We thank all applicants for their participation and remain committed to our goal of harnessing the skills of the Nigerian youth and provide Higher Education Institutions with the necessary tools and resources needed in development and advancement.
