NHEF and Federal Ministry of Education Deepen Collaboration to Advance Higher Education in Nigeria

In a significant step towards transforming Nigeria’s tertiary education landscape, the Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) met with the Honourable Minister of Education of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, on the 13th of May, 2025, to solidify strategic collaboration ahead of the 2025 NHEF Higher Education Forum.

The meeting, which took place at the Federal Ministry of Education, was attended by Dr. Alausa, the Honourable Minister of Education; Mr. Lanre Lamina, Special Assistant to the Minister of Education; Mr. Wale Adeosun, Chairman of the NHEF; and Mrs. Precious Amah-Ojionuka, VP,  Strategic Partnerships, Development & Communications at the NHEF.

In a show of strong support for public-private engagement in education, Dr. Alausa confirmed his attendance as Keynote Speaker at the upcoming NHEF Higher Education Forum, scheduled to take place in Lagos on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He commended the NHEF for its unwavering dedication to enhancing the capacity of higher education institutions in Nigeria and emphasized the importance of leadership training, mentorship, and reform in achieving sustainable educational advancement.

During the discussions, the Honourable Minister outlined areas of priority for his administration, including STEM development, girl-child education, and entrepreneurship. He also stressed the need for increased collaboration between the government and education-focused organizations like the NHEF.

The meeting marks a significant milestone in NHEF’s mission to convene multi-sectoral stakeholders and galvanize national momentum toward the revitalization of Nigeria’s higher education system.
