NHEF Launches Applications for the 2026 Graduate Doctors Program

The Nigeria Higher Education Foundation (NHEF) is pleased to announce the official launch of applications for the 2026 NHEF Graduate Doctors Program, a flagship leadership and capacity development initiative designed for post-housemanship doctors transitioning into full professional practice.

The Graduate Doctors Program offers a curated and immersive learning experience that equips early-career medical professionals with the knowledge, perspective, and networks required to navigate Nigeria’s evolving healthcare landscape. The program is committed to cultivating a new generation of doctors with the competence, resilience, leadership capacity, and commitment to advance healthcare delivery across Nigeria.

 

WHO SHOULD APPLY
The program is exclusively open to graduate medical doctors from NHEF Partner Universities:

  • AHMADU BELLO UNIVERSITY, BAYERO UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN, UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS, UNIVERSITY OF NIGERIA, UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT
  • Applicants MUST have completed their housemanship, but completion of NYSC is not mandatory.  Candidates who have completed NYSC, are currently undergoing NYSC, or are yet to begin NYSC are all eligible to apply.
  • Exhibit a strong commitment to community service, philanthropy, and a desire to make a lasting impact in society.

  • Application Deadline: 23rd March 2026 // 11:59 P.M. WAT
  • Orientation Timeline: Tuesday, July 7 – Saturday, July 11, 2026
  • Location: Lagos State
  • Arrival Date: Tuesday, July 7
  • Departure Date: Sunday, July 12


The NHEF is committed to covering travel, accommodation, and feeding costs for all successful candidates.

Selection into the program is merit-based and highly competitive. Applicants are encouraged to answer all questions thoughtfully and thoroughly.

  1. Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  2. University Graduation Certificate

  • All required documents must be submitted for an application to be considered complete.
